Visual Literacy in Math and Science Podcast Episode 112

I found a podcast that I think everyone should check out! I thought this was a great resource because they talked about how using visuals in the classroom can be a good focal point for learning. Although they geared it more towards English learning students, they talked about good strategies for getting students to use visuals and communicate what they know. I think this is important especially for math and science because students need to learn how to interpret graphs, charts, and other visuals. This is beneficial for teachers to see what their students understand along with the use of appropriate vocabulary for the lesson and what needs to be focused on in more depth.

  1. Hey Autumn! I think you gave us a great podcast to listen to. I honestly loved listening to it and personally, I feel like one of the best thing they've said is that visuals in the classroom is a platform for learning and not really as a resource. And as a teacher, I think that is very important for all students because some of the contents that we teach is school is really hard to comprehend and grasp just by words on a page. Although this podcast mainly focused on ELL students, I definitely thing it applies to all students and proves that it is necessary to incorporate visuals in our lesson plans.
